I'll scan that portion of the 77 FSM for you and post it on the site. I'll post a link when it is ready. I believe this is a job you can do yourself without too much trouble. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bruce Stubblefield" <audiblefeast@xxxxxxxxx> To: <mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, January 16, 2004 12:47 PM Subject: IML: 78 NYB TIMING CHAIN Hello all, Many thanks again for the tips on my rough-running 78 NYB. As predicted by several of you geniuses, there's 30 degrees of lash in the timing chain/gear(!). The shop wants to replace all the belts and water pump in the process of replacing the chain, which I can understand, but don't want to pay for ($600 for the whole job). I'd like to replace the gear & chain myself, but have no instructions (400 ci lean burn engine). Does anyone have this part of the FSM scanned? BTW I am almost 3/4 of the way through scanning the 1969 manual, if anyone needs something from it. Thanks Bruce S
