It is pure hooey. Every 440 I have even owned has run cool under all
conditions, including some very severe hot weather (approaching 120
degrees), with a full load of passengers, idling in heavy traffic on the Las
Vegas strip, with the ATC doing its usual superb job of keeping everyone
comfortable - the gauge NEVER goes above the center of the normal range.
Of course, I am careful to pop all the freeze plugs and clean out the block,
and have the radiator rodded out each time I buy any car.
