The best way of removing excess sealant is panel wipe, which is used to
clean any prepared surfaces before painting, anywhere that sells car paint
will sell panel wipe or it may be called pre wipe.
The panel wipe air dries quickly so it can be used liberally, pour it onto 
a soft cloth (mutton cloth or similar) and wipe off the sealant while still
wet.
