Hello all;
As far as I am concerned, and yes I have had the opportunity to
compare the two, any Cadilac built after 1958 is little more then a pimped out
Chebby, in fact they even share body shells with the Impalas. Cadillacs used too
much plastic, too much tin, had too much overhang, and relied too much on their
name to sell their cars after that time. If you don't believe me just compare
the size of the frames. Imperial, while it hit a low point in assembly quality
in 57', was really an excellent car from 58' onward in performance,
quality, and technical innovation.
Cadillacs handle like a boat and aside from their limos were really a
mass market car after that point in time. What sold the Cadillacs was prestige
and name recognition. I would find it difficult to swallow the notion that they
were a superior car, especially in 1967/68, when they rolled out their version
of the Olds Toronado, a car famous for its technical
problems and difficult servicing.
