In addition to the '65 Crown convert. I also am the
very proud owner of a gorgeous '66 Eldorado convert. BTW, the original top
on this car "matched" the body color (Cobalt Firemist) and the top bows were
also the same blue color. The top well is (from the
factory) black (I assume because the interior is black (perforated leather)
but the top was blue! Go figure! I now have a black top and have painted
the bows black and I like it much better than when the top was
blue.
As for any comparison, I would say they are
both beautifully detailed cars. The Cad's engine is a bit larger (429 cid)
but has the same horsepower (340bhp) as the Imperial's 413. Both cars
drive well but the Imperial weighs about 700lbs more than the Caddy. The
styling is more unique on the Imperial (I think) but I grew up riding to school
(carpool) in a neighbor's Caddy and was taken with all that luxury even as
a youngster. Then another neighbor bought a '67 Imperial and I flipped
over it! I like both (and own both) but have devoted far more of my life
and resourses to restoring the Imperial. And I do not belong to an online
Cadillac club. This club is the greatest!!!!!!!!!!
Just my two cents worth.
