Hi All!
I wanted to thank everyone for all the replies I got regarding the replacing
of the rear leaf springs on my '66 convertible. I now know that the ones from
my 4-door parts car will NOT fit! (#$%$@!&%^). Between the suggestions of
vendors to supply the springs and doing some checking on the internet, I
finally settled for ordering new ones from "Springs & Things". I also had an
email from members reminding me that the "Strut Rods" on the rear might have
to also be replaced and I may a swell do these at the same time.
Well, 'S & T' also carries these 'Strut Rods' so I just said what the hect
and put the whole thing on the good ole charge card!....
While I can't quote $$$ for other years the breakdown for my '66 Convertible
goes as follows: (I spoke with 'Larua' at their 800-903-9019 number -she was
very helpful and knowledgeable about their products and availability)
...One set (2) rear leaf springs for convertible..........$240.00
...Shackles,End Bushings,U-Bolts (for both sides).........$ 52.00
...Shipping...............................................$ 41.58
-----------
$ 333.58
The set of StrutRods was an additional....................$ 120.00
One item they did not carry and she could not say where I might get them from
was the 'axel pads' . I assume these are used between the axel itself and the
leaf spring...........DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET THESE FROM??????
Thanks again to all for your replies and verbal help......now, if only I had
a 'torch' or a VERY VERY long breaker bar when it comes to actually changing
these!!!!
Regartds to all,
Dan Melnik
