Does anyone on the list have a Color & Trim booklet (the salesman's piece in
the little blue binder) for 1966?
There should be a chart within it listing the color for virtually every major
trim part in the interior. Chances are the lining for the soft-top well is
noted if it was color-keyed to something.
Another source would be a parts book (unless this area is just painted metal,
but you said "liner"), which might show the possible color codes for the
various part(s), provided there is an actual liner.
I'm with the Other Chris H in suspecting all were black, as it's just not an
area of the car one would have wanted to draw attention to.

My suspicions are that it was always black. I only
say that because that is the only color I have ever
seen on a Mopar, and black is also good at visually
minimizing the appearance of the empty top well and
top mechanics visible through the back window. A
light color would only highlight it.
