"Special Club Coupe" was Moparese for 2-door hardtop. The name first
appeared in the 1949 Chrysler folder, printed March 1949, with an
illustration of the Newport Special Club Coupe. Although it was to have
been available as a Windsor, New Yorker or Town & Country, it did not get
into production until 1950.
in 1956, the new 4-door hardops were called "Special 4-door Sedans".
1961 appears to be the last year Chrysler Corporation referred to "Special
Club Coupes" and "Special 4-door Sedans". In 1962 they were called 2-door
hardtops and 4-door hardtops.
