How can I identify exactly a 1938 Chrysler Imperial ?
(body, engine ...). I will see it very soon and I am
looking for any useful tips ...

ID numbers for the Imperial started with C-19 and are located on the right front door hinge pillar post, starting with C19-6734001 & ending C19-6742105.  The eight cylinder motor engine numbers, are located on the left side of the block between cylinders one & two.  Starting engine number C19-1001 and ending C19-9172.  There was also a Custom Imperial series C-20 that year, but only 519 were built.  The Imperial series was on a 125 in. wheelbase and the Custom on a 144 in. wheelbase.  If you need other specific info I'll try and help, just let me know.
