Inaccessible Imperial



I had the identical problem in my 64 New Yorker, and found that the problem
was that the last time I had unlocked the door with the key, I had not
turned the key all the way to the unlock position, leaving the interlock
mechanism in a sort of never - neverland position.  Try just inserting the
key, then turning it all the way one way (try the outside handle), then the
other way (try the outside handle again) to see if you can fix it that way.

If that doesn't work, you'll have to pop that door panel off there and study
the mechanism to fix it.
