Personally, I am like you, Don, and I can't possibly imagine not spelling Christmas out completely. To me, using X-mas seems like leaving Christ out of Christmas, and He's "the Reason for the season". If I'm not mistaken, however, X-mas is also "acceptable" in light of the fact early Christians were forced to use various "codes" in order to avoid persecution, and I am inclined to believe that may be where the X-mas comes into play. jambawoman 1967 Chrysler Imperial sadly, not running with a drained battery :<( >From: "Don Nonnweiler" <dnonnwei@xxxxxxxxx> >Reply-To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx >To: <mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> >Subject: Re: IML: Hi everyone >Date: Fri, 13 Dec 2002 06:03:15 -0600 > >Doesn't anyone celebrate Christmas anymore instead of xmas >just my politcally incorrect opinion, but it just does not seem right >Don > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Sigtún > To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Sent: Friday, December 13, 2002 12:21 AM > Subject: IML: Hi everyone > > > > > Hi everyone,! > > From us here in Iceland in the middle of the north Atlatic Ocean > > A merry X-mass and a Happy New Year > > Greetings from > Hlynur and Hanna > Sigtun@xxxxxxxx > > Imperial LeBaron 1962 > _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 with e-mail virus protection service: 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/virus
