Not a stupid question.



It could be that Chrysler wanted to keep a unique body
type for each Imperial starting in the 80's.

Remeber, the 90's Imperials are classified as Y
bodies, hence the reason why I refere to AC/Y bodies
for the Dynasty/5th Ave/New Yorker/Imperial (all of
which are almost one in the same in terms of the
basics... such as the suspension).

Interesting that the Y body could be used for both the
RWD 80's Imperial (is it RWD? My memory says yes....)
and the FWT 90's Imperial baised on the Dynasty.
