I have worked as a mechanic for 21 years, with six of those 
working exclusively on vehicle breakdowns at Heathrow 
(London) airport for British Airways.
9 out of 10 vehicle fires i attended was caused by faulty 
starter motors or wiring to them.
If your starter is getting slow, noisy or sticking change it
they may be expensive but not compared to the value of
your Imperial.
