I suspect that there are two sides to this.

What reasons did he give?  
Lowell is not a tightlipped person...

I know him pretty well, and another person asking might
make a difference, but I'd like to know more before I come
to any conclusions.  He's got a really strong reputation
for being honest and solid.  I do know that cars rarely, if
ever leave his premises once they are brought in.  I think
that he has liability issues and does not want to be
associated with cars that are on the road - just the
components that go on them.

Also, there are others out there that have basket cases or
even parts cars with good bodies, no?  I'm not in the
market for a '57, so don't know, but there has to be more
than one avenue here....

Another thing to think about is to ask the list to look out
for you.  500 pairs of sensitive eyeballs have a way of
bringing things to you, and should take way less than a
year to produce results.
