Flightsweep birdbath



Rope caulk should work well for this. You can buy it at auto paint supply shops. Its basicly the same product as Moortite, that you will find at Home Depot, except its black instead of gray. You'll find this used in such places as the outside corners of the windshield trim & at least on the 60, its used where the tail lights mount to the body.

I am about to start working on the flightsweep deck lid, removing the center
hub and trim ring to repair any rust which I am sure is there. My question
is, does anyone out there have any ideas on how to seal this area to prevent
water intrusion between the hub, and the trunk lid? I thought about laying
down a bead of silicone, but think it will become messy looking with wax
build up, etc., and a rubber gasket would also look bad. Any ideas would be
appreciated, as I would like to keep the birdbath in the hub rather than
under it!
       I'd also like to put my pennies worth into the thread about Chrysler
reintroducing the Imperial. I say it had it's glorious past, and it would
never be the car it used to be, so it should remain a collectors item. Look
at the reintroduced 1991 Imperials, sorry for those that have them, but they
really don't deserve to have the Imperial name on them. Chrysler is turning
out some of the best full size cars I've seen today, but to turn out an
Imperial, they are going to have to come up with something really special.
Just take a look at the new Ford Thunderbird, which is a horrible retro
style! Why is Detroit so afraid to put fins on a car once again? The new
Thunderbird has all the elements of a 1956 or 1957 T-Bird, but completely
looses my interest due to the lack of fins. Now if Chrysler came out with a
retro styled Imperial looking like the 1957-1959 fins and all, in a downsized
version, this might be exactly the car I could sink my teeth into!
