I wanted to thank those of you who answered my plea, as to how to get the
trim ring off my flightsweep deck lid. I had newspaper and masking tape
around the tail lights and on the trunk lid since I was repainting the top of
the fins Therefore I could not open the trunk to look inside. After I
finished removing everything and popped open the trunk, I thought to myself,
duh, that was a dumb thing to post. I see all the nuts which have to be
removed, but it appears as if the silicone happy ex owners struck here as
well, putting globs of the stuff around all the nuts, probably to prevent
water intrusion into the trunk. Looks like I have to remove a bit of silicone
before tackling this one.
