IML Body Manufacturer??

Many places in Detroit are named after automotive pioneers.  The old Tiger Stadium was previously named Briggs Stadium.  Does anyone know if the stadium was named for the Briggs that built bodies?

Unless your car is a Crown Imperial, yes, the body was built by Chrysler.

Chrysler purchased Briggs Body, the last major non-Chrysler supplier of
bodies, in late 1952.   Since then Chrysler has built its own bodies.  The
only exception to that is the 1957-65 Crown Imperials with bodies by Ghia,
but even there Chrysler built the body that Ghia stretched and modified to
make a Crown Imperial.

A side point - Chrysler of Canada started making their own bodies in 1927,
when Fisher Body stopped making bodies for non-General Motors vehicles.
Briggs never had a Canadian operation, although Chrysler of Canada did draw
upon American firms (Briggs, Murray, Chrysler) for larger body stampings and
pieces.
