Philippe wrote of the problems he was having with a French style of speed bump which is longer than those typically encountered in the USA. He asked about tightening the torsion bars as a way to raise his vehicle's height. His vehicle is too low due to a smaller tire on the vehicle from the original size. Maybe I am missing a basic point here but wouldn't the best solution be to fit tires the same size as the originals? To increase the tension on hard working, stressed elements of the suspension that are 45 years old seems like an unnecessary risk to me. In case I am accused of being an originality vigilante, I must "confess" my '58 doesn't even have fourteen inch wheels. At some point before I got it they were replaced with 15 inch wheels. Apart from not being able to fit correct hubcaps - I bought a set and that's how I found out about the wheels - I have found no problems whatsoever. The overall size of the tire circumference is probably a little greater than it would be with the fourteen inch wheels but the ride quality is excellent. I hardly even notice traditionally sized "sleeping policemen." If the underside of a car is being knocked about because of using undersize tires I perceive the quickest, easiest, most painless solution is to get correct sized tires. If the undersized ones look really good, save them for shows, Hugh
