I have a non-factory Holley 750cfm carb w/vac secondaries(4160-3310)sitting 
atop an Edelbrock Performer on my '75 Imp's 440. When I bought my Imp about 
11 years ago,it had that dreaded ThermoQuad. After fiddling with it for 
weeks,the Holley and Edelbrock manifold was installed. The cruise-control 
and tranny kickdown attached easily.
I have NEVER had any luck with the smoke-belching,eyeball burning ThermoQ's. 
The one I had on my long-since-gone '73 Imp behaved not too badly,tho. Even 
after Albany Asphalts Mack dump-truck (veh # D-13)penetrated the 
drivers-side with no brakes!

My Holley and Edelbrock set-up was first used on my '69 N.Y.er that I had 15 
years ago. I use a 2nd Holley 750 and Edelbrock Performer on my RV with no 
problems. The Holleys are so somple to work on,it's unbelievable. Ever check 
out a Factory Service Manual on a ThermoQuad?? Page after page after 
page.... Ugh.

For those of you who are saying,"Aww c-mon,those ThermoQ's are fine.",here 
is a list of recalls for '75 Imperials. ALL ThermoQuad related:

abound also.  Bleck!!

A word on Originality: I feel that you can change whatever you want,just 
SAVE the original parts. I refrain from anything that I cannot undo...to 
turn it back to "original".

'79 440 powered 35 ft RV <--same carb and intake set-up as above. If you 
find something that works,stay with it.

On this Holley and Carter carb thing. Most people like the Carter. I have 
had
good luck with Carters. On the other hand my 68 convertible (120K mi. owned
since 76) has a Holley and it has performed flawlessly. On one road trip 
when
Connie was driving the car got 18 mpg. The carb has never leaked and has
never even been adjusted. Performance wise this is one of the fastest
Imperials I have ever driven, and I've owned probably fifty or so Imperials.
I was just wondering what other IML'ers have had for experiences with 
Holleys.
