The 8 track player also required the 5 speaker setup, so the car you bought must have had this at one time. What radio the car had isn't a factor, they supplied the 8 Track with any of the radios. The radios didn't use the 5 speaker setup unless it was the stereo radio. I tried to make this clear in my write-up, but perhaps I didn't. If the door speakers didn't look like the ones you are used to seeing on the 68's, I'd bet they were aftermarket speakers, put in by someone who had installed an aftermarket stereo radio/cassette player.
