Rustproofing on boxcars (Was: '67 or '68 promo model)?

You haven't looked deep enough into the crannies Dick! The parcel shelf is 
the most obvious example and while the underside of mine isn't totally 
pristine, it is mostly un-oxidized, but since it is part of the interior of 
the car and exposed to the sun's warmth through the back window, I wouldn't 
expect it to rust much. You need to look up inside the doors, while the 
inside of the skin is undercoated in the lower areas to some extent, the 
upper areas and back side of the inner panel is left bare for the most part, 
and those areas are exposed to repeated moisture from both weather and 
washing. For comparison look inside of a 60s Volvo. I think that the term 
aluminized is simply capitalizing on the use of steel coated to preserve the 
product from the mill rather than the final creation.
