dash lights

Hmm... I don't know how it is on the '68 Imperial, but even when my
'67's dash dimmer switch was working, it had no effect on any lights
other than the dash lights themselves. Anyway, one day my dash
lights suddenly stopped working, and my mechanic found that he could
make them work again by bypassing that thumb-wheel switch altogether.
Now my dash lights come on (full strength) when I turn the headlights
on, and I can't dim them -- but then I've never wanted to dim my dash
lights anyway. Does anyone ever actually do that? :-)
