Okay, this is like "Battle Bots" you can drive in, I guess. Thanks, Peter, for the educational e-mail. I remember seeing demo derbys when I was a kid but I haven't seen one lately. I admit-- and I know this will tick some people off-- I feel like this out to be outlawed. At least with Imperials. But that is only because I would like to save every good old car ever made. I know that's not realistic, but that's how I feel. Talk about destroying "originality!" I'm sure this is fun to do and fun to watch, though. Shift the transmission by hand??? Are you serious? I've heard that one reason Imperials win is because of the distance between the bumper and the radiator-- now I know it may be because of the crossmember as well. Are the fuselage Imps the best? Or only the most plentiful? Are there any rules or limitations as to how much you can modify the car? Seems to me you could add enough reinforcement to just about make any car invincible (?). Is there any money to be made in this? Why do people do it? (Stand back-- now I've done it.) That softened the pain somewhat.
