81-83 illuminated entry

hi all,
i have a problem with my illuminated doorlock "halos".
the system lights up fine inside the car and when i
look inside the doors i can see the lightbulb is on
but no light reaches the door lock halo.(both sides
the same). is it possible that there is a
light-conducting piece missing or broken ?  the bulb
inside the door is not loose; seems to be firmly held
in place.
