Mr. Foster thank you, I will check that out. The record player has
four wires in its harness,1 for power 2 for ground 3 and 4 for the
speakers I think.

Roy;
I would suspect that your record player
has two wires for the motor and two for the phonograph cartridge. If the
platter is spining your motor is still connected but your cartridge
isn't. As for the reject button it sounds like your machine has a
mechanical problem. It may be NOS but it is still old and probably in need
of a grease job.
I had a used bicycle once that was
about 25 years old and was in such good shape it still had the original
inner tubes on it, although they wouldn't hold air. When I got the thing
home I took the bearings out of the wheels to grease them and found a lump
of grease that was still clean but had dried to the consistency of wax.
You may find that the changer mechanism has a few similarly dried lumps of
grease in the mechanism. If you aren't mechnically inclined I would find
someone else to do this job as record changers can be a nightmare if you
twiddle screws in the wrong places, find an old T.V repair
man.
