Well, thanks, John.  I never really believed all those folks who said that, yes, even the air cleaner was black in '60.  I raised the question back in '98 and received several responses that said it had to be black.  So who is right?  I'm going to paint the air cleaner gold on the 60 I am restoring in the next year and this time I will say I got it from the IML that gold was the color.  Anyway, gold it will be as I like that color.  Black was very boring.

Appreciate your response.  How about the rest of the folks??? What color is correct for 60 air cleaners.  Do we agree with John and with me??

Thanks, Henry Hopkins

Henry,

The correct color for '59-'61 air cleaners is Golden Lion gold (you can get this factory color in rattle cans from Mopar Performance dealers).  '62s used the same air cleaner but they were black.  '63s used a different, larger air cleaner also black.

And, a question.  When I was restoring my 60 Imperial convertible and inquired about the interior engine colors, what I got was BLACK and yes, it is boring and a gold air cleaner or a little silver here and there would be nice, but no, for 60, black, all black and that's that.  So, while I like the gold air cleaner on the 60 convertible as shown, it's not correct according to club experts who answered my inquiries years ago--19997, 1998
