RE: IML: VALUE OF MY '65

Frank, you may want to look at the superb article in the club pages about starting an engine that has been idle for a long time, to minimize the risk of harming that very low mileage engine. Enjoy the car. It sounds special.

P.S. The whole issue of value is quite vague for me, as the motivations to buy and maintain one of these cars is tough to justify on economic terms. Anyway, you may want to check the club pages to learn about assessment issues that you need to adjust general numbers that appear in value guides (for example, the very low mileage increases the value for some buyers.) Your '65 sounds like a 3/4 currently ($4,600-10,350 in the 2008 price guide.)

Greetings! I wonder if you all could help me with an idea of what the '65 Imperial Crown convertible is worth?
It has a little over 16,000 miles on it. It was repainted some time ago, an okay job. Still looks good. I believe the top has been replaced also.
The interior is all original. The wood trim has some discoloration. All of the windows work except the rear passenger.
The glass in intact. None of the leather is torn. The dash has a little separation.
The tires are new Michel ins. It has the hard side covers for the top and the soft center piece.
I believe I have about got the engine ready to start. ( I'm taking this step slowly because it has sat inside storage for several years.
All of the trim is there inside and out. there is a small dent in the rear chrome trim above the bumper and the chrome trim around the passenger's front wheel well has a minor dent.
Any thoughts would be appreciated,
Take Care,
Frank

Hey Kenyon, and group, I encounter this sort of thing all the time in the classifieds.. " running when parked" is almost always a crock.. nobody just parks a car that's running great, I guess they just don't want to say the truth that it was kinda' running "ish" (it rolled)  when it died there..., but usually the person selling the car has no idea why it was parked, and is usually someone who knew or was related to the person who parked it, because the needed repair was way more then the car was worth when they parked it ( typically 5 or more years prior to me seeing it) my other favorite is the "needs TLC" line.. that usually means something akin to "the only salvageable part left on this car is one inside door handle"  and oddly enough, that's the car they want 6500.00 for because a neighbor remarked it was a classic.

Imperial Content:  My 90 just turned over 85000 miles this week, pretty good for an 18 year old daily driver...

I bought a 62 that was white in the headlights and
mint green the next morning. "running when parked"
turned into a seized engine
