The 1966 Single Snorkel used by an Imperial with the 440 is the same length
and diam as the Dual Snorkel Unit. With the Dual Snorkel assembly,
the engine does not need to "labour" as much to get its air supply.

Subject: single vs. dual snorkel (was Re:
IML: 1969 air cleaner question)
Somebody please help me here. If your air intake is controlled
by manifold vacuum, you can't possibly take in more air just because you
have a dual snorkel. What is the benefit at normal street RPMs?
What made the Chrysler engineers decide to put dual snorkels on dual
exhaust? Sure looks cool, though. I got one ready for my '66, if
it ever gets an engine. Just kidding, I found a '66 New Yorker with a
low mileage 440 and will do the transplant this year.
Thanks,
David

Thanks Ed:
The silver does not look right which is probably part of the reason
that I replaced the air cleaner originally. I also do not like the tiny
opening for air to get in with the single snorkle. I will keep my eyes
open for a dual snorkle, but will refinish the original in black.

Fred
I replaced the oringinal air cleaner on my 69 Lebaron with
a duel snorkel unit from a lesser Mopar of the same
vintage. It breaths much better and to me looks better.
Anyway, the original air cleaner was painted black and the "pie tin"
was molded to fit the contours of the air cleaner. I was
lucky enough to find a repo tin at Chryslers at Carlisle several
years back and it not only fits the original air cleaner but also is a
perfect fit for the duel snorkel air cleaner I'm running now.
