Steve B. and Marty are probably much more qualified to address the '59 questions than I am, but from the '59's that I have seen, I definitely agree with their comments.
I believe Imperial added the air gap around the edge of the hubcaps sometime during the '59 model year as Steve B. mentioned.
I will check the service bulletins again, I think it actually mentions a date when the factory changed those.
My favourite Imperial years are '57, '58, and '59, and also '61.
I have tried to educate myself on all the different aspects of these 4 years of Imperial.
There were many many factory changes that took place on the '57-'59 years, and sometimes, the owners have interchanged pieces between the different years, so often you have to go back and search for the original pieces to correct the changes that the previous owners have made.
I think your pictures of your '59 are GREAT, and I can tell you are putting a lot of work and effort into your restoration.
If those are the "gold" center LeBaron hubcaps, they are definitely a rare set and you should use them and enjoy them on your '59.

Most all of the '59 Imperial 'caps have about a 1/2" air gap around the perimeter where they attach to the rim, for added brake drum cooling.

The '59 'caps are somewhat of a mysterious animal.
The ones I've seen on the Customs or Crowns tend to be the "LeBaron" cog style, but the "cog/tooth area" is a silver/stainless rather than a burnished gold. The upper end LeBaron 'caps had the gold burnished tooth/cog area, as seen on Marty's '59.
I compared the Dodge 'caps you were talking about, and I think those (checker/bullet) ones seemed to have been a standard Chrysler generic 'cap.
I would vote for the silver/stainless center cog ones as being the "lower" end Imperial caps for '59.
I hope to own a '59 myself someday.......... still looking.
I have some good pics of the "lower end" '57 and '58 Imperial hubcaps.
I will send them to the site, one of these days.

old friend that has had lots of late 50's Chrysler products said he thought they were 59' Dodge and required a lock ring to use them as they clip on the outside with a very minor lip. I personally have never seen them on an Imperial, only Dodges.
Also, there is not a representation of the 1957 hubcaps with the plain center and black paint. Only the 58' style w/ the crown centers and cream paint.
Whomever the specialist is in this area, please either validate or correct me on this.

Did a Chrysler Imperial ever wear Rims or was it always hubcaps? My 90 has wheel covers as well as my 1974. I know Cadillac and I believe Lincolns had Alloy Rims back in the 90's and today
