IML: Forward Look

Dave,

I was at the DeSoto Warren Plant from 1952 to 1954 so I was probably there at the same time as your Dad. I was one of the Resident Motor Engineers helping the DeSoto manufacturing personnel build a new 276 cu. in. V-8 hemi engine. I think we called it the "FireDome V-8". I was less than two years out of the Chrysler Institute of Engineering master's degree program so I doubt that I was much help to them - but I learned a lot! There were two DeSoto manufacturing plants about 1/2 mile apart. The Warren Plant built the bodies and the engines and then both were shipped to the Wyoming Pant for vehicle assembly.

While looking through some childhood treasures, I found some interesting things. I have a couple Forward Look tie pins, and a brass round key fob with the Forward Look emblem on one side, on the the other, the car line Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto, Chrysler, and Imperial. Since my dad was Chief Powerplant Engineer at the DeSoto Plant in Detroit in the 50's, I suspect thats where they came from. Has anyone else seen these before? Ya'll have a nice day, Dave.
