Nearly every road test done by MI, Car Life, or Motor Trend would perform a top speed run. Many of these are reproduced on the OIC for your information and enjoyment.

Hi John!...interesting point! I had been following the commentsregarding > the running of a members Imperial on the Autobahn (and, YES, I am > jealous!) and your email makes me wonder how to go about figuring out just > what the top speed, or the highest possible RPM's, would be for my '66 > LeBaron?...stock 440 motor with 3.23 rear and stock 15inch > wheels........there's probably a formula and I'd appreciate it if you > could pass that on to me.
Please feel free to email me directly (dansgarage@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx) soas > not to bore the other IML'rs ....but, then again, just for 'chuckles' > others may just want to calculate the top speed for their own Imperials > "IF" they were to have an "Autobahn" nearby. I also wonder about the > TIRES!!? what kind would have to be used on the car to safely travel at > that speed?....not that here in southern California I could get remotely > close to 200mph!!!
Thanks, John!...hope you have a Happy and Safe Holiday and New
Years!!!!

Those are baddriving habits which have nothing to do with realizing the potential
of
the engine. Public roads are a community of people who have to worktogether to get along. If someone wants to find out how fast their
car
will go, they need to make arrangements with a race track, notexperiment with fast driving and a different braking system on a
public
road. The excessive burst of power available to Imperial Owner's is there for safe passing on two lane highways and smoothly merging with high speed freeway traffic.
