OK, Patrick, your post has now come up ten times! These are aftermarket, possibly added at the same time as the lovely side markers you can see in the same pics. 1967 was the first year for fender-mounted turn signals on an Imperial. Since they were 100% equipped (meaning standard on all Imperials, unlike all other Mopars where they were optional, usually as part of the Basic Package or a Lighting Package), there were no indicators on the dash, just the fender tops. These are the lights that flash back at the driver to show the signal. They are very common to later Chrysler products, but I don't think I've ever seen them on a car this old. I wonder if they're after-market? I would put some sil glide on the rubbers and in the cyclinders. Make installation much easy and just works better. Or at least some brake fluid in the cyclinder and on the rubber cups. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Timothy Hulse > To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Sent: Tuesday, October 16, 2007 10:06 PM > Subject: IML: 1956 Imperial WHEEL CYLINDERS > > > Im sorry everyone but I was tired and stupid last night when I asked the question about cylinders. What I was talking about were the Wheel Cylinder kits. The kits come pakaged so you can rebuild the front or the rears. The original wheel cylinders have an aluminum PISTON with the rubber boot made on the piston and then one spring. My question is what goes back in the cylinder from the generic rebuild kit? I would assume we have to use the original PISTON. The only thing I can see how to make them work is as follows. > > Slide the spring in the cylinder. > Slide the rubber cup in the cylinder. > Slide the original PISTON with the Original rubber boot made on the piston in the cylinder. > Then of course the boot and link. > > Please correct me if this is wrong. The cylinders have been honed and ready. > > Thanks for any help. > Tim Hulse > Bakersfield Ca > 1956 Imperial ----------------- http://www.imperialclub.com ----------------- This message was sent to you by the Imperial Mailing List.
