Hi Steve,Their are suppliers of clips and universal clips like Gary Goers. I found that rust starts under the trim areas and can be a big problem if not found and fixed before a paint job. You can easily tell a car that has been painted without the trim removed and it looks cheap. If you plan on keeping the car, I would suggest you remove as much of the trim as possible. The end result would justify the extra work. Just my 2 cents. I was able to find all the clips and rubber I needed to redo my entire car (1959 Imperial) from Gary Goers. If you reuse old clips, put some POR15 on them to make them bullet proof.

I can't comment on your clip availability, but I can say that nobody on the panet will tape your car like you will. Blue tape, quick turnaround before the tape goes funky, and a razor blade while you listen to relaxing music would be the way I'd go. I have a car with no trim on it in primer that's waiting on me finishing my other projects (to my regret), and I wanted it that way. I want the car DONE and done right, so it's down to the last nut and bolt on the 1960, but for any of my other cars? Tape. Unless you're looking for the absolute pillar of perfection, I'd encourage you to consider taping just for the economy of labor saved, whether on the body-man's bill or in your own personal time. -K --- Steve Tenpenny <10penny@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:I'm new to the IML and new to my 61 Crown Coupe. In planning and preparation for a future paint job, I have a question that has a great bearing on removing ALL the trim. Are ALL of the clips available that will be needed to replace the trim on my car, if in fact ALL of the trim is removed for painting? I have had painters tell me you can really get yourself in a mess if the clips can't be had. I realize taping off is not the ideal method, but if replacing this huge amount of trim is going to be a major problem, I certainly might consider it. Any help here will be appreciated.
