Thanks a lot Eric,Exactly the same came to mind of mr. Paul Wentink (randallpark@xxxxxxx), you see since I can 'sometimes' get the domelight off by wiggling around with the wiring harness that runs through the doorpost of the front passenger door Paul thinks that a hot wire from the motor or the powerlock.
If time permits I will have a look at it today! Thanks again for your kind suggestion and help. Rob----- Original Message ----- From: "Eric" <gearhead@xxxxxxxxxxx>

Something that keeps coming to mind is that when 12V is applied to both leads, you will get nothing at the bulb. This is a handy way to create a flashing front side marker light to a car that didn't incorporate this feature (aka my former '72 Newport). :By bringing up a power feed from the turn signal to the side marker lamp when the running lamps are on, the double 12V to the bulb defeats the 'resistance' that is is the bulb. But this is just an example of the larger subject, the 1/2 lit dome light..Might it be that another positive lead is shorting to the dome light and then partially feeding some other device, like a power window motor? The power window motor would likely not operate with half voltage?Maybe thats just half baked... but it keeps coming to mind. You see, if I push the rear back door switches in by hand, my dome light shines on at half power or so!!?So, I still go for Paul's theory that a 'hot" wire from the window motor orpower lock might be causing this problem.
