Re: IML: Several problems

Hola All

I wanted new rear springs for our 1947 De Soto Custom and our 1966 Le Baron due to an vintage Air Stream in the family.  For this I went to .. http://www.espo.com/ .  Their HD version that I had asked for was at the front door in the same week.

I first blocked and jacked up the car so it would be safe to be around.  Then sprayed the jacked up side with the stuff from NAPA for anti rust & etc ( not WD 40 ).  While this stuff was ah workin I got all the tools needed.

The U-Bolts holding the axle to the springs came off, then the rear section of the springs.  The last was the front.

Removed the old spring from my laying/working space and started on the new from the front first.  From start to finish it took about 30 min per side.  It may have been sooner to finish since my Brother In-Law stopped by to help me.

Rear leaf springs can be obtained from Eaton (www.eatonsprings.com).  Last fall I priced a set of springs for a 63 Imperial.  The price was around $459.00.  I have not yet purchased them but have bought springs from Eaton for other cars.  They make the springs to your specifications.  I have had springs made to raise the vehicle above stock height.
