RE: IML: Sale of Chrysler

Chrysler lost lost $1.5B last year while Mercedes is doing really well. But, the reasons companies merge or split has more to do with strategic visions and not necessarily short term profits or losses.

Also, I am not exactly sure what difference it would make if Chrysler was purchased by the Chinese instead of the Germans!
The timing is somewhat appropriate since China has just moved ahead of Germany into second place for international exporting $ behind the USA.

Just think of a new Chrysler in every home in China!

I do know that I would love to see the new Imperial concept car get into production and it would be a great flagship car for just Chrysler, but pales somewhat when compared to the Mercedes offerings. Would a buyout of Chrysler by Chinese interests increase the chance of the new Imperial becoming a reality?  I certainly think that a new Imperial would make our cars more appreciated.

On CBS, they stated the Chinese Communists would be interested.  This is the first reference I have ever seen to chi-coms but that must be it.

I heard a blurb about this on the news this evening.  According to the news reports, Chrysler has been profitable for DC, I wonder why they would want to sell.

BTW, I?m not familiar with the term Chi-Coms.  What does it mean?

This may be a bit far afield but do we have any members who work for Daimler-Chrysler? I hear the Chi-Coms want to buy the company from Mercedes -Benz. If that happens well - I don't want to think about it.
