Auto Audio Service & Restoration Co 1200 Central Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30344 (404) 762-5350 These people have done auto search radios and the original digital radios for me plus a power AM/FM/CB radio antenna. This is one of those grubby, little dusty joints that can repair any radio that was ever in a car, tube type included. You will talk with either Hans or David. They take their time, but are very familiar with all Chrysler radios. I also had to make an adapter to feed the both the left and right sides. This is VERY drastic and I also did it when the car was less than 3 years old and the parts were still available from Chrysler, not "NS1". BUT, I have been looking around to find a repair location for my 75 Searchtune. Which come around to your origianl question, " Has ANYONE found a repair location to PROPERLY repair SEARCHTUNE radios. My need to repair my AM/FM MULTIPLEX's search kicks in but does not do anything and the AM only manually works. I have to turn it off to get the manual tuning to work again. I have found listings in Hemmings for repair, but I am hesitant on sending away my unit. There are "converted" units available listed in Hemmings also. As to add additional speakers, you would need to make up an add-on harness to feed the rear speakers (and add a right speaker) and to add left and right speakers to the front. You can get current technology very small speakers which will fit under the dash on each side, and by using a couple of diodes in the harness you can also dual feed the current center speaker in the dash to blend the right and left sides. I do hope that this is not too much over the top, but it a simple solution to adding true stereo to any vehicle and ALSO keeping the original items unaltered. In my reference to current technology speakers in the front means that you can purchase 3 inch or smaller speakers (depending on how much you want to spend) which will actually be better than the original outboard dash speakers. If it has the seek buttons and floor activator, it is not a stereo. AM-FM does not imply stereo. Stereo implies the 5 speaker setup (4 on convertibles) - if you do not have speakers in the doors, you don't have stereo. Unfortunately, the reverse is NOT true - in other words, you can have the 5 speaker setup without having stereo - if the car came with an 8 track player. Thanks, Dick. As usual you've done a great job educating. It's not a stereo, it's an AM/FM radio. It does indeed have a floor actuator, and there are no speakers in the doors. This begs another question: can it not be converted/upgraded to stereo? I have no objection to improving the sound quality and even adding speakers, if necessary, so long as the original radio with it's correct functionality can be maintained.
