Hello Group:
I have an A/C question that I couldn't find the answer to while looking through the archives, repair sections, or in my own National Service Data manual.
My 65's A/C system goes through all the proper motions, but I am not getting cool air inside the car. I suspect that the expansion valve may be the culprit. The TEV is cold, the line leading into the plenum is frosty, and there are just a few bubbles in the site glass. I checked out the heater core valve (?) and it closes and opens as it should when the temp lever is moved, the compressor is running, starting, and sounding as it should.....
I have read about cleaning a screen in the Exp. Valve, but I would need more specifics on how to do that.. would I need to have the system evacuated?
One last small question: There is a knob by the driver's left knee that says floor air. When the car is not running I can turn that knob but nothing really happens, when I start the car and turn on the ac the knob turns itself to the left towards the floorboard, and while the car is running I cannot budge it left or right..... what exactly does floor air do, and is this something contributing to no cool air?
Thanks everyone,
Eric
