The main reasons that the Digest mode produces so much junk are twofold: One reason is that people cannot remember to trim the unneeded stuff off their posts, for instance the repeated boilerplate message at the bottom which is appended to every message, including every reply, and: The second reason is that people forget to set their e-mail composer to post in "Plain Text" only. That makes the digest come through in cluttered up gibberish caused by all the formatting marks used.
