Bill. Would that little early 80's "Executive Car" (K platform) be considered a "limo"? I believe those were made by Chrysler. They might not fit in to the proper usage of the term limo though. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill Watson" <wwatson5@xxxxxxxxx> To: <mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, August 08, 2006 3:41 PM Subject: Re: IML: Imperial Limos Yes, the 1956 Crown Imperial limousine was the best seller at 175 units followed by 1955 at 127. In addition, Imperial sold 51 8-passenger sedans in 1956 and 45 in 1955. Also, the 1955-56 Crown Imperials had bodies built by Chrysler. That totals 226 Crown Imperials for 1956 and 172 in 1955. Of the Ghia-built Crown Imperials, the 1957 was most popular at 36 units followed by 1958 with 31 and then 1960 at 16. The least popular years were 1959 with seven and 1962 with zero. Although Ghia production was zero in 1966, the Ghia tooling was shipped to Barreiros in Spain where another ten were built. Barreiros, a truck and engine manufacturer, was purchased by Chrysler and would become Chrysler Spain in 1970. And that was the end of the factory-backed Imperial limousines. Instead, Stageway was contacted to extend Imperial sedans into long-wheelbase (163") limous. Twelve were built in 1967-68 with another fifteen between 1969 and 1971. After that, all extended wheelbase Imperial limousines were done by the purchaser. Two 1972 Imperial limous (with 1973 front ends) were built by Hess and Eisenhardt (builders of funeral cars) for the American Secrect Service. The stretched Imperial limousines of the 1980' and 1990's were all done by coachbuilders not associated by Chrysler and arranged by the buyers of the Imperials.
