I did not see on their site where they recommend white bulbs for red lamps. What I found recommended to use bulbs the same color as the lens. It also mentioned that since the white LEDs have very little light in the reddish end of the spectrum, most of it would be filtered out. As far as the light distribution, the fill reached all but the outer edges of the reflector, and what was illuminated was fairly evenly distributed, but dim. My tail/stop/turn lamps each contain 2 molded-in reflectors, stacked vertically. Each reflector area is about 2x4 inches. I noticed on their site that the recommended colour for
replacing lights WITH a red lens covering them, is white as they
do give a higher output. Regarding the ones you purchased, did
they fill the light reflecting area to NOT have a highly
concentrated center area and a VERY dark outter portion of the
overall lens?
I and asking this as I am wanting to use LEDS in my 75.

of weeks ago. After reading the messages, I went to
superbrightleds.com and ordered a couple of bulbs for my '89
lebaron coupe to try them out. Mind you, I'd tried the
replacement bulbs from them several years ago and did not like
them then. But, seeing that they'd re-designed them and added
radially-aimed LEDs to light up the reflector portion, I decided

Once again, I am disappointed and do not recommend them. They
are simply not bright enough to be safe to use during the day.
And the difference between the dim (parking light) and the bright
(brake/turn signal) settings is not sufficient to distinguish.
The quality of the bulbs' construction has improved in the past 2
years, and while the 6 radially mounted LEDs offer a slight
improvement over the previous design, they are simply too puny,
and too dim to do an adequate job of fully illuminating the
reflector and filling-in the entire lamp assembly. Of course,
this is based upon the experience with my LeBaron. They might be
more adequate in a taillamp design that utilizes more bulbs or
smaller reflectors that don't have as much surface area to light
up. Also, my taillamps have black stripes painted across them as
part of the design, which makes the fill light more important.
Taillamps with unobstructed lenses that can better make use of
the direct light from the outward-facing LEDs may be more
suitable.
Just thought I would post my personal experience in hopes of
helping others here make their decision.
