The rusty car may be the one you like the best, but it is probably not the one to keep. There is usually more rust than just what you see. Structurally, it may not even be a safe driver for very much longer. It is difficult to say why it has the problem so much worse than the other. Maybe simply because it was not taken care of. As a collector, you may end up keeping it for a long time. My advice would be to pick the one that is in the best shape, and will last the longest with the least amount of work. You will likely spend money on which ever one you keep, and the rusty one will always be harder to sell and worth less because of the rust.
I was once in the same situation only with a pair of 1955 Sedans. The rusty one was lower miles, had a nicer interior, and was prettier colors. I spent over $7,000 to rebuild the 331, but decided that I didn't want to fight the rust for the rest of my life if I kept it that long. I traded it for some work, and the mechanic sold it for a good price. The new owner has repaired all of the rust and drives it everyplace. Still, without a frame off restoration, I don't think all of the rust will ever be gone. Even so, I think he is enjoying that car a lot more than I ever would have. After having them, I have decided that the '55 is one I like well enough to keep for a long time, so it was probably wise to hang on to the solid one and unload the rust bucket.
In you place, I would sell the rusty one while it still serves a useful purpose. Someone else will get some miles out of it before it finally is too far gone to enjoy.

Subject: IML: Help me decide 91 or 93 Imp.??
I have a 91 3.3L black cherry with red leather int. in good+ condition as well as the body with 87,000 miles on it. No extras except for the mark cross edition. -Very limited edition and amenities. I recently bought a 93 3.8L light brown mahogany Imperial with all the bells and whistles (i.e.: infinity, electronic-EVIC- time/temp. , automatic door opener ,alarm automatic start etc.) with Int. light mahogany as well- good+ also with 65,000 miles on it However, the rocker panels a rusting as well as there are signs of the bottom of the doors rusting. Gas tank also shows some rust. Probably to fix would be more than I paid for the car. I like the brown car better because it has gold on the emblems and I just like the paint /color better. I also like the way the wood trim looks against the brown int.. My gut feeling is that it's not the better car only because of the rust and that the black cherry car is the better choice. Your opinion matters in my decision. What would you do? -Anthony &nbs
