Companies like General Motors really understand that the whole game is
marketing. This is why they give special offers to young people coming out
of school. It is a fact that once you buy your first car, from that point
on, that is what a car should be. If you get into a car of a different
brand, you can feel that it is different...not always better or worse, just
different. This is largly where that brand loyalty comes from. Now,
there are other factors like styling and engineering but the majority of brand
loyalty comes from a person's perception of what a car should be...they should
be like that very first car they bought. It is my opinion that Chrysler
has always tried to attract customers with sheer engineering excellence or
innovation while other companies, like GM where busy telling customers how good
they'll look in their new car or how good they will feel with one of their new
cars in their life.
