Re: IML: Why choose Imperial over Caddy or Lincoln?

When youv'e driven the rest then drive the best ! I have three Imperials and they each in there turn out perform the competition , my favorite is my 63 convertible , what a car it runs at speeds of 110-115 mph NO drama. Here in England our roads are sometimes winding and narrow or crowded motorways my Imperial for its age loves being driven and is absolutely superb, no other old car does it like an Imperial . Don't take my word for it BUY one if its good you will love it .

Well, I once heard someone say, "you don't give away Imperials, you drive them!"

O.K. I've read the e-mails that the Imperial was overall a better car than the others. Why than if the Imperial was better in so many ways was it not the vehicle of choice by dignitaries here and abroad? Did Ford(Lincoln) and GM(Cadillac) give their cars away for marketing purposes while Chrysler(Imperial) didn't??

Thatâ??s a great answer below. My reason goes way back to 1962. My Dad had a big lime green â??58 Fleetwood 62 Series Sedan. During the summer of 1962 the triple carb gave trouble and backfired burning it to the ground while on vacation. My Dad made a promise to never own another Cadillac and he hated Fords so enter a new â??62 Imperial Crown in Rosewood. That car lead to his next car a â??69 Blue Crown leaving me to drive the old â??62 Imperial and it hooked me into appreciation of what a fine car Chrysler was building back then. His 3rd and last Chrysler car was a â??76 New Yorker because there was no Imperial that year. Personally I find all 3 to be great cars of the late 50â??s to late 60â??s and would be happy to have most any of them during that 10 year span.

it's the quality, looks and comfort of an Imperial. Take for example the one I own, a 74 Imperial. Caddy and Lincoln did not have 4 wheel disc brakes, Imperial did. They didn't have a metal grille, Imperial did, and they coulden't match the leather seats Imperial had. Plus through the years, Imperial always had a better looking body style. Most important though is quality, Mopar is always a better choice than GM or Ford.
