Re: IML: Change Over for 1975 AutoTemp

There are differing opinions on this but this is what my cousin says...he
owns a very professional and successful garage so I trust him.

Disassemble the system, take the hoses off, throw away the dryer (buy a new
one) flush out the condensor, compressor, evapourator and lines using a
proper AC system flush solution. Replace any incompatile O rings and hoses.
Reassemble and fill with R-134a.

I am about to try a product called Red-Tek. This product is a drop-in
solution for an older R-12 system. Red-Tek is compatible with the older
components and the R-12 type oil. There is also a product called Duracool
that is very much the same. I'll let you know my experience with this
product.

Is there a guide in the club's listings of the parts and the
Equipment needed to change from an R-12 Freon A/C system to an
R134a A/C system. I know that some of us have already done this.
I would very much appreciate this. My A/C is not working
currently.
