RE: IML: Seeking Input on a Cousin Car

The 54 New Yorker was one of the most bulletproof (mechanically) cars ever to come from Mother MOPAR.  But is quite a bit more old fashioned than your 56.

It came from the factory with a Hemi, a 6 volt positive ground electrical system, a 2 speed Powerflite transmission (and much different wheels/wheel covers – so there is no telling what is under the hood now!). From the wheel covers, I’ll bet it has been “updated”.

From the presentation on eBay (“Private listing”, no pictures of details, super high “buy it now” price etc, Jersey Shore location), I would run, not walk, away from this seller.

But, it has factory AC – which would be a big plus if it is working, (AC was quite rare in 54).

I clicked on “see larger picture” but it doesn’t seem to be working now. If it finally comes through and I can tell more, I’ll post a follow up report.

Subject: IML: Seeking Input on a Cousin Car

Gentleman,

What type of motor would be powering this beauty?

It seems the lister is none too versed in his own car?  I am looking for a "complement" for my 1956 4 door Imperial sedan and though I prefer to stay in the Imperial mode as I have developed many contacts and quite the education building my pride, as it were, for some reason only a few Imperial models of the sixties really do it for me so I lean toward the 50's vintage for the full effects of horsepower coming of age as well as the amenities, re: a/c, p/w, p/s and though this is obviously not an Imperial, I have become a fan Walter's (and particularly early Virgil Exner) production tendencies and this piques my interest, unless there is an Imperial fellow member who, has and is willing to part with, their love to a fan and growing aficionado who sops up the help of Dick, Elijah, Rodger and Gabby, and the other incredibly helpful members of this site and the vendors who are so instrumental in keeping/bringing our loves to life as I would faithfully.  Thanks one and all always.

Respectfully,

Jack/ybshore  1956 Four Door Sedan Imperial

PS  My nickel on the IML Emailing:  I have never read anything from any posting that I did not learn something from, whether it pertained to my particular vehicle or not........furthermore, I would rather see an IML message on my screen for I KNOW it will be "fun", if not, as I saw before on another well put posting:  the button is called DELETE if you do not want to read it and if you are so busy in your caught up life that postings are an issue for you, I strongly suggest a ride on infinite proportion in your classic with no phone or radio for a good chill out!!!!!!!!!
