If you have good Radial tires, usually 34 psi +/- 2 psi is pretty fool proof. Check the tire though.

I believe that the Ford Explorers ran into problems recommending ca. 26 psi to soften the ride in tires that should have had higher pressures.

Running too low a pressure gives more side wall flex which causes heat to build up and the tire to fail.

Hope I don't offend anybody by saying this,
but the door-plate reccommended pressures are
often, well, wrong.
I'd go with something between 80% and 100%
of the max pressure rating on the sidewall - I
tend towards the higher side of those numbers,
but 80% should be high enough that the tires
just wear out faster than normal, instead of
failing catastrophically.
