Gary,
I have one of the first '56 cars with Torqueflite (7616) built in
late February. The car has two independent belt drives, one for the
water pump and one for the generator/power steering (the car does not
have A/C). Both drives are double belts, if that helps at all.

My idler arm pulley is a single groove pulley providing tension for
the water pump belt; no idler on the compressor double belt circuit.
Mine is an early serial # (1881) and has the Powerflite transmission.
Did they change the set up on later Torqueflite cars?
