Hi All! The remote-controlled passenger side mirror I had referred to was on the 1966 4-door Imperial that was my daily-drive car back in the early-to-mid 1970's. I suppose someone could have jurry-rigged the inside adjustable control but the setup sure looked like factory setup to me! It had a 'stick' control like the adjustment stick for the 'driver-side' mirror does, but it was located as part of the lower-section of the dash if I rmember right. Anyway, it may have been added lateron, but it sure woould be a nice thing to be able to put on the car now....as mentioned, once you get used to having a mirror there over on the passenger-side, its sure weird NOT to be able to use it (meaning adjust it since the vibrations tend to keep 'moving' the adjustment you made when you stopped 20 minutes ago) Thanks for the comments ...so far no one has seen one of these......wonder if I could hook one up? Especially on a really wide vehicle. However, most 60's cars only came with one mirror anyway! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Neal Herman" To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: IML: Outside Passenger-side remote mirror Date: Wed, 24 May 2006 05:06:18 -0400 I don't believe that Imperial had, even as an option, a remote-controlled exterior passenger-side mirror until 1974. I suppose it's possible to mount a remote driver's side mirror onto the passenger fender and thread the cables to some jury-rigged toggle you've added somewhere on the dash. The angle of the mirror may make it apparent that it's not correct, and you might not be able to position it so that the mirror reflects accurately what you need to see. Perhaps you could take an existing passenger side mirror housing and replace the innards and add control cables from a driver's side mirror. To me it sounds like more bother than it's worth, but that's just my opinion. I have a mirror there right now but it does not adjust from the inside of the car. I believe I also need to change the underneath part of the dash where the remote adjusting stick gets located, (and maybe sother things).
