Thanks so much, Elijah,
With enough people reporting back that the electric
choke connects to a switched 12V source, I feel confidant in going that
route.
Now, I need to find the metering jets! The
carb kit (still unopened) I got for the rebuild does NOT have new metering jets
in it! Maybe I'm wrong, but one would think new jets would be part of a
rebuild. Oh well, I'll keep shopping.
Thanks again everyone, for all the
help.

You're
just the guy I was looking for!! You seem to have positively
identified this choke set-up with a Mopar application. After your
coffee, and any other morning rituals you may have, if you could confirm the
proper places to run each wire, I would greatly appreciate it. While
the car that this old Imperial motor is in, is a 300L, I know it has a
ballast resistor - it should work out just fine. Just to confirm,
I checked after I got home this evening, and the "hot" wire for the electric
choke goes to the blue wire on the ballast resistor (on the passenger
side).
The other wire is, of course, a ground wire, and is attached to
the carburetor.
Good luck!
